Getting Started with Facebook for Business

After Google Search, Facebook is the second top source for traffic online, and that’s why you need Facebook for business. As a business, you want to tap into that audience for sure. So, how can you do it? I’ll be honest, there’s a lot to know about marketing your business Facebook, but it’s is super easy to get started. If you already have a personal Facebook profile, then you are more than halfway there because:

  1. You already know the basics of using Facebook
  2. You must have a profile in order to create a page for your business

Remember, your business cannot be a stand-alone entity on Facebook. Your profile will own your business Facebook page. While there won’t be any public reference to you on the page your create for your business, you must first have that profile because you cannot log into Facebook as a page. Make sense? Alright, so the first step is to create your business page.

This is a simple process as well. From your profile, you should see a Create a Page link in the left navigation of your Facebook home page or Timeline. Click that and follow the prompts to create your page.

Now What?

I’m going to put you on the fast track. Are you ready? If you followed the prompts to create your Facebook for business page, you should have profile and cover images in place, and your information should be filled out completely. If not, take care of this first. You don’t want to start sending out a business Facebook  page to your contacts that doesn’t tell them who you are and what you do. It also wouldn’t hurt to share an introductory post just so there is some initial content.

Share Your Facebook For Business Page With Your List

You can actually upload your email list right into your new Facebook page! From your page, click the button with the three dots next to Messages. Select Suggest Page from the drop–down menu and upload your list. If you have contacts on your personal Facebook profile that you would like to share your new page with, you can do that using the Invite friends to like this Page link in the left sidebar of your page. Select the friends you’d like to invite from the list.

Don’t Forget to Set Up Your Call-To-Action Button

Facebook added this feature last year where business pages have a call-to-action button front and center inside the cover image area. You can use this button for a number of functions including: sign up for your list, call now, send a message, contact you, watch a video and more. Don’t ignore this great free Facebook tool when you set up your business Facebook page.

Using Facebook Ads to Skyrocket Your Efforts

In early 2015, Facebook adjusted their algorithm so that it limited the amount of organic reach businesses had with their page posts. This was quite a blow as prior to this change, Facebook for business was basically a free market of unlimited traffic potential at virtually no cost. Those were the days! While you certainly don’t have to engage in Facebook ads to have a successful page, it can greatly speed up the process. It also won’t break the bank. You can boost a certain post for as low as $5. Get in there and learn a little about Facebook ads. It will be worth your while these Facebook strategies to your arsenal.

It’s a fairly easy platform to use and Facebook really goes out of their way to provide resources to help you as I linked in the first paragraph above.
